The
Math Lab is bringing back its Adopt-A-TA program
this semester!
Through Adopt-A-TA, students from your
class can form a group that meets at a certain
hour that the Math Lab is open every week with
a specific TA.
That TA will be assigned to meet with your
group exclusively and can help work through whatever
problems you may have.
In order to take part in Adopt-A-TA you
must have at least 7 students from your class
(they can be from another section of the same
course as long as the two sections cover the same
material at the same time).
It
is important to note that this program is not
in place so that TAs will be available to “walk
you through” your assigned homework, but instead
assist you with the more difficult and confusing
questions that you have identified after having
gone through your homework prior to your designated
hour.
The duration for
Adopting the TA is determined by your group. You
may Adopt-A-TA for
·
The
day before a test.
·
The
month to help with a difficult chapter.
·
Every
week of the semester (one
month at a time)
This
is a great opportunity for upper division math
students
to
get help!
The Math Lab has a limited number of upper
division TAs and some classes are more difficult
to tutor than others.
By joining Adopt-A-TA you will not only
have a TA assigned to your group, but you will
have the opportunity to help each other in a study
group setting.
We are hoping that many upper division students will take advantage of
this.
If your class is a smaller class and you
are having difficulty getting 7 students, 6 students
can make a group.
The
secretaries in the Math Lab will have the sign-up
sheet at the check-out desk.
You can come in separately to sign-up;
however, you must get a total of seven people
from your class before your TA will be assigned
to you. We
hope this can help everyone have a better semester.
Good luck!
