Math Lab Teaching Assistant
Requirements:
- Lower division assistants: Proficiency in algebra,
trigonometry, and differential and integral calculus.
This includes course material in Math 110, 111,
112, and 113.
- Upper division assistants: Proficiency in multivariate
calculus, linear algebra, and ordinary differential
equations. This includes material from Math 214,
343, and 334.
- Ability to thoroughly explain both familiar and
new or difficult concepts to students in understandable
ways. (No "it is intuitively obvious" or "by inspection".)
- Flexible schedule, preferably with availability
in peak hour in afternoon and evening shifts.
- Letter of recommendation from a previous mathematics
instructor.
Responsibilities:
- Answer questions and explain concepts of students
on the floor of the Math Lab.
- Attend weekly training meetings to maintain teaching
and concept-based skills.
- Assist students with mathematical and computer-related
questions in the Math Access Point Labs.
- Represent the Math Lab in a manner consistent
with the Goals of a BYU Education and the BYU Honor
Code.
- Teach Math Lab-hosted review sessions for selected
100- or 300-level classes.

or job supervisors, which they should send to the
Math Lab at the address on the form. After your application
is received, you will be able to take the TA application
test, which helps us gauge your mathematical proficiency.
