Title: Mathematics and Algorithms for Genomic Medicine

Abstract: Mathematical methods and algorithms play a key role in rapid,

accurate, economical new technologies for molecular level medical

diagnostics and treatment. We will give examples involving tests to

determine transplant compatibility, to detect multiple pathogens

from a single sample, to screen newborns for risk factors, and to

suggest cancer treatment, that rely on calculus, linear algebra,

discrete math, statistical mechanics, numerical analysis,

visualization, and more.
