Deadlines: January 15 (Spring, Summer, Fall), August 15 (Winter). Late applications will be considered. We typically only accept applications for spring, summer and fall terms. We consider applications for winter term only under rare circumstances. Students who apply for winter admission should be aware that there is often no financial support for winter term.
The following items need to be submitted:
- Three letters of recommendation. At least two of the letters should be written by individuals who can describe the applicant's mathematical background and ability to succeed in graduate-level mathematics.
- The university requires an ecclesiastical endorsement for all applicants. Applicants who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should contact the Graduate Studies office to arrange an interview with the University Chaplain.
- Unofficial transcripts for past degrees
- English proficiency tests for most non-US applicants
- $50 application fee. The math department is unable to waive any application fees.
- Applicants are not required to submit scores from the GRE General Test or the GRE Math Subject Test.
1. A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or similar technical subject
2. A year’s sequence in advanced (proof-based) calculus
3. At least a year’s sequence in other advanced (proof-based) mathematics courses
4. Applicants are not required to submit scores from the GRE General Test or the GRE Math Subject Test.
