Financial Aid & Funding
We generally offer financial aid to all admitted applicants. This includes a full tuition scholarship and a stipend of roughly $20,100 per year for masters students and $22,500 for PhD students. In exchange, we ask graduate students to work part-time as teaching assistants or research assistants. A teaching assistant will be assigned duties ranging from holding office hours to grading or giving supplemental lectures for courses. Research assistants have the duty to assist in the particular research project that funds their position.
There are also graduate fellowship opportunities available on a competitive basis, which carry no research or teaching assistant responsibilities and offer a larger stipend. Some major ones include:
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program
National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship
Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
