Title: The virtual fibration conjecture
Abstract: A classic way to manufacture manifolds out of lower-dimensional manifolds is by fibrations, a kind of twisted product. Thurston asked whether most 3-dimensional manifolds are fibrations (up to finite-sheeted covers)? We will discuss this question and its resolution via techniques of geometric group theory.
