Title: A Mathematical Model of Microcirculation and Applications to Cardiology
Abstract: We derive useful expressions for the macroscopic properties of microvascular networks. This work yields a model to describe the hemodynamics of capillary beds taking into account their multiscale nature, and the influence of blood volume and pressure on the effective properties. As a result, we obtain a simple and useful model to study hypotensive and hypertensive phenomena. We will discuss some applications to increase our understanding of the circulatory system under abnormal conditions.
